Genomic and Applied Microbiology

Research Fields and Projects

The department of Genomic and Applied Microbiology comprises several research groups with different research interests:

Biodiversity and Metagenomics

Exploring the enormous and largely untapped physiological, metabolic, and genetic diversity of environmental microorganisms (→ more).

Göttingen Genomics Laboratory

Göttingen Genomics Laboratory (G2L) is a major centre of microbial genome analysis within Germany (→ more)

Group Liesegang: Comparative Genomics in Microbial Evolution

The Group of Heiko Liesegang is integrated in the Göttingen Genomics Laboratory and addresses different research topics, (I) Bacillus Genomics & Evolution, (II) Bacillus Industrial Genomics & Strain Design, (III) Bacillus-invertebrate interaction and (IV) Applied Bioinformatics in Microbial Genomics.

Research projects

The department is partner in a variety of third party funded research initiatives (→ more).
