Göttingen Genomics Laboratory (G2L)

g2l logoGöttingen Genomics Laboratory is an internationally renowned centre for the sequencing and annotation of microbial genomes and metagenomes. Its work also covers the processing of sequence data used for functional genome analysis.
Göttingen Genomics Laboratory is working with state-of-the-art automated equipment for high-throughput DNA and cDNA sequencing based on competent bioinformatical analyses. All work is carried out by highly qualified scientific staff and technicians. The platform possesses extensive experience in the fields of comparative genomics and metagenomics as well as in the related fields of transcriptomics and meta-transcriptomics. Its portfolio covers the following services:
  • Production of gene libraries on genomic and metagenomic DNA and/or RNA (cDNA)
  • Sequencing of genomes, metagenomes, DNA fragments, cDNA and transcriptomes in high-throughput
  • Raw data processing aimed at data record assembly, editing, the relevant methods for gap closure (utilizing software packages and tools such as Phred, Staden, IMG, Newbler)
  • Automated gene identification and manual correction
  • Automated and manual annotation using PRODIGAL, TIS, SIGI, COLOMBO, IMG, BI-BLAST
  • Metabolic reconstruction and comparative genomics, for example, to compare wild-type strains with high-performance strains or pathogenic with apathogenic strains, but also study closely related bacteria species and microbial consorts
  • Meta-transcriptome analyses
The Göttingen Genomics Laboratory is focused on the areas NGS-Sequencing/Transcriptomics and Bioinformatics.
